Mercy Corps seeks a National Education Consultant to provide expert advice, planning and technical support for the implementation of Education interventions under the THABAT AF1 program in Gedaref. The Education Consultant will be responsible for ensuring the quality and effective delivery of the education initiatives, aligned with THABAT AF1 education strategies, environment and social safeguards, to meet the needs of vulnerable populations, including IDPs and conflict-affected communities. Mercy Corps supports establishment and operation of 30 child-friendly learning spaces (CFS) in five localities of Basunda, Al Fashaga, Al Rahad, Al Mafaza and Al Fao. Mercy Corps will procure and deliver the provision of learning and CFS kits.

Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in education, protection or a related field. A postgraduate qualification in education or a related field is desirable.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing education or child protection programs in

humanitarian or post-conflict settings.

• Experience of the start-up phase of an education or child protection program.

• Knowledge of Sphere standards, the INEE minimum standards and other training in humanitarian

response preferred.

• Strong experience with education and child protection quality assurance processes and working

with implementing partners/subcontractors to deliver education and child protection.

• Knowledge of formal and informal education, child protection, psychosocial support (PSS) for

children, conflict sensitive education, safeguarding and protection in education.

• Experience of implementing education or child protection programs in Sudan.

• Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.

• Excellent communication, report writing, and analytical skills.

• Excellent writing and verbal skills in English is required.
