Mercy Corps is seeking to partner with a national NGO to implement a hygiene promotion intervention in 5 localities within Gedaref State under the Somoud AF project. The initiative aims to improve hygiene practices among internally displaced persons (IDPs) and vulnerable host communities to reduce the risk of waterborne and hygiene-related diseases.
Objective:
To enhance hygiene awareness and practices among IDPs and host communities by conducting structured hygiene promotion activities and training sessions, with a focus on women and other vulnerable groups.
Scope of Work: The selected national NGO will be responsible for implementing the following activities:
1) Training on Key Hygiene Practices:
Conduct training sessions targeting women on the following topics:
Safe water collection and storage practices
Solid waste management
Safety in food preparation and cooking
Essential handwashing times and techniques
2) Hygiene Promotion Campaigns:
Organize and facilitate two hygiene promotion campaigns per month in each of the 5 target localities over a 12-month period.
Utilize culturally appropriate messaging, communication materials, and community engagement techniques to reinforce key hygiene behaviours.
Engage local community leaders, volunteers, and health workers to support hygiene promotion activities.
3) Community Mobilization and Awareness Raising:
Work closely with community representatives to ensure active participation in hygiene promotion initiatives.
Leverage existing community networks to sustain hygiene behaviour change beyond the intervention period.
4) Monitoring and Reporting:
Develop and submit monthly progress reports detailing activities implemented, key achievements, and challenges encountered.
Conduct pre- and post-training assessments to measure knowledge retention and behavior change.
Document success stories and lessons learned for program improvement and advocacy purposes.
Expected Deliverables:
• Training sessions conducted in all 5 localities, with documented attendance and key learnings.
• Twelve hygiene promotion campaigns conducted in each locality over the 12-month period.
• Monthly progress reports submitted to Mercy Corps, including participant feedback and recommendations.
• Final report summarizing key achievements, challenges, and recommendations for future hygiene promotion initiatives.
Partner Qualifications:
• Registered national NGO with proven experience in hygiene promotion, WASH interventions, or community health programs.
• Demonstrated capacity to work in Gedaref and engage with IDP communities.
• Experienced staff and facilitators capable of delivering participatory hygiene training and campaigns.
• Strong reporting and documentation skills.

After the closing date of this Tender Notice, the Request for Bid / Proposal will be sent to the suppliers who submitted Intent to Bid Forms. The Request for Bid / Request for Proposal will be sent according to the preference you have mentioned in the Intent to Bid Form.
